Engaging with the Skills for Success

Information for staff and students on engaging with the Skills for Success.

As illustrated below, implementing the Skills For Success Framework (SFSF) will involve three linked groups of activities for students and staff which will:

  • Embed opportunities for skills development in the Edinburgh journey of all students;
  • Surface these opportunities clearly to students and staff; and
  • Ensure that students and staff are able to articulate skills development for themselves and to others (e.g. prospective employers).
Engaging with the Skills for Success

Once the Skills For Success Framework has been fully implemented we expect that it will be:

  • A non-exhaustive common frame of reference to be contextualised to academic discipline and curriculum design;
  • Complementary to discipline-specific understanding, knowledge, and skills;
  • Embedded across programmes and courses, surfaced by academic and professional services staff, and articulated by students;
  • Integrated into our student support ecosystem, and wider student experience, to enhance student development; and
  • Unique to every student - with their own starting points and journey which will shape them as individuals.
